OPENING SPRING 2011

Located on the far west side of 42nd Street in Hell's Kitchen, The Out NYC is ideally situated to become a hotel and entertainment destination for gay New Yorkers and tourists alike. The individual components-hetero friendly hotel, spa, dance bar and restaurant-will be managed by highly-experienced owner/operators who have successfully operated similar venues in other New York City locations and throughout the world.

The NEW xl Dance Bar and Performance Space

A key component of The Out NYC is the inclusion of a dance bar and performance space. Located on the ground floor of the complex, the 9,000-square-foot xl dance bar will have capacity for a maximum of 750 guests. xl will be open seven days each week from 4:00pm to 4:00am accommodating a happy-hour clientele from approximately 4pm to 9pm; an after-dinner crowd from approximately 8pm to 11pm, and late-night patrons from approximately 10pm to 4am.

Axel Hotel

The Out NYC hotel will be operated by the Barcelona-based Axel Hotels, which brings with it an impeccable reputation for its boutique hotels in Europe and Latin America. Although Axel markets predominantly to the gay community, diversity and respect are highly valued and all guests, regardless of sexual orientation, are equally welcomed. Since 2003, Axel has operated successful hotels in Barcelona, Buenos Aires and Berlin. Juan P. Juliá Blanch, the founder and owner of Axel Hotels, is delighted to bring his pioneering vision of “hetero-friendly” gay-oriented hotels to America for the first time at 508 West 42nd Street

Prior to the planned grand opening of the Axel Hotel NYC in early 2011, the hotel will serve as an annex to the existing 160-room Travel Inn located directly across the street at 515 West 42nd Street. During this period, the Travel Inn annex will offer affordable hotel rooms beginning at $99 per night. Once the various components of The Out NYC hotel and entertainment complex - hotel, dance bar, restaurant, wellness and business center - are completed, Axel Hotels will assume operation of the 122-room hotel, with rates ranging from $99 to a $399 per night.

The Axel Hotel has been designed to provide a cosmopolitan and comfortable environment. The first floor will include a concierge and check-in area, administrative office space, 9 guest rooms, a small 400 square foot retail shop, and 1500 square feet of much-needed conference and event space. It is Axel's goal to have New York's many non-profit organizations that serve the LGBT community as prime users of the conference and event facilities. And, in the near future, it is our fervent belief that the Axel Hotel NYC will be the site of wedding ceremonies for gay and lesbian couples.

Nickel Spa

Nickel Spa was founded in 1996 by Philippe Dumont, who has become a leading international figure in the cosmetic industry. Nickel's first spa opened in Paris in 1996, followed by a second Paris location in Le Printemps, the premiere French department store. By 2001, Nickel had opened its first American outpost in Chelsea-at 14th Street & 8th Avenue. Two years later, Nickel opened a second location in San Francisco.

Guests of the hotel and the public will be able to enjoy a broad range of wellness programs from world-class experts in the fields of nutrition and fitness, as well as get a great workout.

Restaurants

KITCHEN, the ground floor, 3500-square-foot restaurant, will be operated seven days a week by eatery nyc, the same restauranteurs who opened the popular Hell's Kitchen restaurants Whym, Eatery and Vynl. Led by restaurant innovators Evan Kushner, Scott Connolly and Jason Kahan, Eatery will be responsible for all catering events and in-room dining service at the Axel Hotel and also in the conference center.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, this 120-seat moderately-priced New American restaurant will have something for everyone on its menu-hotel guests and the general public alike. eatery restaurants have earned rave reviews from a host of New York City food critics, including The New York Times, Time Out New York and Crain's New York Business.
